Only seven days until "Portrait of a Mother" becomes available. It was the winning entry in last year's Mother's Day Contest at Cedar Fort, so it seems only fair that I should continue the contest tradition. From now until the end of March, post a "portrait" of words describing why your mother is the greatest as a comment two this post. On March 31st, I will draw two names from those who posted and they will each receive a signed copy of Portrait of a Mother.

My mother grew up in LA as one of five children. She put herself through school and earned a master’s degree in English. She is friendly, sociable, talented, kind and capable; she could’ve done anything with her life, but my five siblings and I will forever be thankful that she chose to be a full time mother.
My mom married a military man and has had to move her household around the world an average of once every two years. No one could’ve taken that life in stride better than my amazing, versatile mother. Growing up in the military never felt like a challenge because my mother made it an adventure!
My mom was always very open and honest with us about herself. She was strong and humble enough to allow us to learn from her mistakes and weaknesses, as well as her strengths. As they years have gone on, I’ve learned much more from her strengths than anything else. She’s a beautiful person who is always available to give the best advice!
She lives overseas now (still running around the world with the military!), but still keeps in touch regularly and is a great support to me.

My mother builds everyone's self-confidence. She's constantly telling me (and others) how beautiful, smart, and talented they are. A young lady who works for her told her, "When I think of how the Savior would act I think of you." It's really true. She spoils me every chance she gets - babysitting, cleaning my house, buying us food storage, bringing my children treats, playing with my boys so I can sit for a minute. My mother is wonderful.
